“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day.” 2 Timothy 4
On January 14, the Lord awarded my dad, Jim Corbett, his crown of righteousness for the race he ran so well. He passed away peacefully with my mom beside him.
It is impossible to sum up my dad’s life in a short Facebook post. He was the absolute best husband, dad, and friend. He had a sweet relationship with Jesus and spent his time and energy investing in people. He made us all laugh with his amazing storytelling. He was incredibly generous and would meet the needs of others cheerfully. He saw the best in people and encouraged us to pursue our passions. He adored his grandchildren and had a special relationship with each of them. He lived for adventure and loved to travel with our family.
My dad and mom were happily married for 43 years, and their love and commitment until the very end was beautiful and inspiring.
My dad’s absence is a tremendous loss, but I am thankful for how well he lived his life and for the legacy of faith he leaves behind.
