My favorite memory of him occurred in my middle school years—about four years ago. I was spending the night at Lilly’s house when we got into an argument because I messed up her sheets. As in, I got under the covers and that made them imperfect. Well, Lilly’s dad (Jim) insisted that we make up. He spoke privately with both of us to calm us down, and then took us to Sonic to end our quarrel. Looking back, I realize how tedious that must’ve been, but he made us feel important. He was understanding and made sure you were taken care of, no mater how trivial the issue.
