John Wells

Jim was my next door neighbor on the corner of Mary’s Drive and Kathryn Drive in Tallahassee, FL. We used to play a lot of neighborhood football and softball during that period of growing up. We became neighbors when I was 10 . . . Jim was two years younger than me. I spent a lot of time with his family at their house . . . his parents and Jane and Ann. I used to drag poor mildly objecting Jim out to play pitch and catch for hours. He was a huge influence in me becoming a pitcher for Leon High School. But most of all we just talked a lot, a lot about life seen through the eyes of teenagers, and I can say that Jim was the most honest and humble young man I’ve ever known.
We did not see each other much after high school. I do remember going out for food and drink once in our early twenties. I also tracked him down in his early Springfield days and we talked several times on the phone. My heart goes out to Deborah (whom I met at Jim’s house while they were both going to FSU), the children, Jane and Ann. As one also walking with Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, I will see you soon Jim!
